The little one is in good spirits most of the time, and she is beginning to sleep more soundly at night. It has been getting much colder here in Washington, and I am trying to figure out if she notices the change in temperature. She experienced her first snowfall last week, and that seemed to pique her interest a little bit. You can see in these pictures that she is not really sure what to think.

Molly and I were able to get out of the house together for my office Christmas party last Thursday, which was a lot of fun. The party was at the Mandarin Oriental, and we decided to take a limousine across town with a few friends who live in our neighborhood. Thanks to DC traffic, our group managed to polish off a few bottles of champagne before we even arrived at the party. Needless to say, it was a very fun night of celebrating both the holidays and another stellar year of business at NMS. One of the best things about any NMS party is that our good friend Sean Carroll gets flown into town from the Denver office. Sean dropped by our apartment to meet Mary Grace and just hang out the night before the party, and we had a good time catching up and showing off our daughter. Mary Grace apparently liked Sean very much, she was on her best behavior and let him hold her all evening.

We dressed Mary Grace in her Christmas finest for church this morning, and she managed to keep her clothes poop-free for about 30 minutes. Just enough time for some pictures. Good job Mary Grace!

After mass we met our good friend Lucy Kitchin at Lanie and Richard's house for an amazing brunch. Another friend of ours, Lindsye Mitchell, was in town from Atlanta, so she joined us along with her boyfriend Frank. Lanie and Richard prepared a delicious spread of quiche, fruit salad, coffee, mimosas and bagels with all the toppings. We stuffed our faces and shared the latest news while Mary Grace played with her cousins James and Owen. Lanie and Richard have been a HUGE help to us during these first few weeks of being parents, and we can not thank them enough.

As I finish writing this post, Molly and I are waiting to receive news about the birth of our nephew. Down in Athens this evening, Colin and Jackie went into the hospital to deliver their second child, Henry Straughn Stokes II. Our little niece Charlotte is about to be a big sister, and what a wonderful one she will be!
