Baby Iauco: October Is Here

Even though our weather has remained fairly warm, we have welcomed all of the fun things that come with early Fall. When the calendar reads October, it means that the Dixie Classic Fair is about to roll into town with all of its redneck glory. It also means that I have to pretend that I am okay with putting my daughter's life in the hands of some part-time carnival worker who operates the Krazy Katerpillar, Dizzy Dumbo, Vomiting Vermin or whatever ride Mary Grace feels like riding that evening. She was old enough to ride the kids' rides this year, which is a step up from last year when she only qualified for the baby rides. One thing that is certain is that she is certifiably fearless. Nothing scares her. This was confirmed last night at the OTC Halloween Fall Festival where she put on a daredevil show on the moon-bounce slide.

The big news of the season is that we added a puppy to our family. Our new dog is an English Cocker Spaniel named Austin. Mary Grace calls him her little brother and plays with him whenever she gets a chance. By the end of each day, both Austin and Mary Grace are so tired that they fall right asleep... sometimes. Austin earned his name when Molly and I found out over email (around midnight) that we had to make an immediate decision about taking on a new family member. We were in Austin, Texas at the time and figured it was only fitting that he be named after the town where the verdict was made.

The last few weeks have been full of Halloween parties, hay rides and lots of work. My company is moving into our new office downtown, so we have been spending a lot of time getting everything set up. Mary Grace loves the new digs and stops by with Mommy from time-to-time to watch Nick Jr. and hang out on the couch.

Halloween is this coming weekend. We think Mary Grace is going to be Tinkerbell, but it seems to change everyday. As of right now, her Tinkerbell costume is ready to go, but a week ago she wanted to be Pinocchio, so everything could change prior to Sunday evening.
