Poppie was marking his sixtieth year, so Colin, Jackie, Charlotte and Henry drove up from Athens to visit as well. We have not corralled the families since last May, so it was nice to visit and let the two new additions get some quality time with their Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. We spent most of the weekend at the pool, as it was much too hot to do anything else. Henry and Mary Grace loved the water, and both exhibited advanced swimming skills. Mary Grace is no stranger to the water, she goes swimming a lot in Washington now that we have access to a pool, so she was right at home splashing around with her cousins.
We also attended Jessica and John Barker’s wedding, and had such a good time partying with friends that we had not had the chance to see in a while. The service at Home Moravian was beautiful, and the reception at Graylyn lasted well into the night. We can’t wait to hang out with the the newlyweds once they get back to Washington.
All in all, we had a relaxing weekend that was well worth the drive from Washington. For me, being able to see Henry for the first time was the highlight. He and Mary Grace are so cute with each other. They just sit there, occasionally stealing glances and smiling. I should also say that Charlotte is an excellent older cousin, we can already tell that Mary Grace is going to love tagging along with her in the coming years.
