It is funny, Summer used to be a time of absolute freedom. You really had no responsibility for three, non-stop months, except for maybe a crappy job at The Fresh Market or Stone Mill Bread Company (Thruway jobs FTW!!). Every morning you would wake up, throw on an old pair of shorts and be ready to roll. Real shoes weren't even an option.
Now, Summer seems to happen at intervals in between work weeks. Every Sunday is a painful realization that, no, you don't get to wear your flip-flops all day long. In fact, and especially in the awful world of concrete and glass know as Rosslyn, Virginia, 100+ degree days are a complete nuisance. I cannot even imagine having to wear a suit in this heat everyday.
So far, we have had some nice pockets of Summer pretty much every weekend, with the one exception being the weekend that we spent moving. This has almost made up for the fact that I sit in a building five days-a-week instead of out on the beach. Below are some pictures of the cookout that Lanie and Richard had a few weekends ago to kick off the Summer.
We have some updating to do regarding the move and other fun events, but it is hard to post without an internet connection in our apartment. I am currently stealing precious minutes of productivity from Sam by posting from work (sorry Sam). Once we get everything up and running, we will upload some pictures of our new place and other Summer goings-on.
